In recent years, the increasing number of PV power stations has led to a growing scarcity of land resources featuring abundant sunlight, flat terrain, and favorable construction conditions. In this context, lands with weaker construction conditions, such as mountainous areas, are gradually becoming a new option for PV project development.
In early 2025, the 50MW PV Power Generation Project in Xinfu District, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province with Solargiga Energy Holdings Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Solargiga Energy”) as its Supplier achieved full-capacity grid connection and power generation. In this edition of Solargiga Energy’s Global Footprint, we take you inside a mountainous PV power station project with Solargiga Energy as its Supplier — a PV Project in Xinzhou, Shanxi.
PV Modules Weave Poetry Across Layer Upon Layer of Mountains
Solargiga Energy’s Shanxi Xinzhou PV Project (the “Project”) is a large-scale mountainous centralized PV power project. Nestled in steep and rugged terrain with deep valleys and bathed in abundant sunlight, nearly 110,000 PV modules weave poetry across layer upon layer of mountains.
In such a geographical environment, higher requirements are placed on the weather resistance and load capacity of the PV modules. For the Project, the Giga-P series 72 half-cell bifacial 545W PV modules produced by Solargiga Energy and totaling 60MW are selected. The bifacial design offers superior encapsulation and excellent weather resistance, ensuring outstanding power generation performance under diverse and challenging environmental conditions; meanwhile, Solargiga Energy has optimized the module structure to enhance mechanical strength, enabling better resistance to external impacts and vibrations.
The Project is expected to output nearly 90 million kWh of clean electricity per year, which is equivalent to saving about 23,000 tons of standard coal consumption, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 76,000 tons and sulfur dioxide emissions by about 496 tons. The Project not only marks a significant step toward Xinzhou’s green future but also stands as another exemplary model supporting China’s carbon peak/neutrality goals.
Fearlessly Conquering the Natural Barriers of Transportation in Mountainous Areas
During construction of the Project, the complex mountainous terrain posed significant challenges for transportation of modules. The Project involves 72 steel towers and 16 PV zones, widely distributed across steep slopes, sharp curves, and treacherous roads, making transportation unimaginably difficult.
In the face of difficulties, Solargiga Energy demonstrated strong professional strength and fearless courage. By virtue of outstanding logistics coordination capabilities, Solargiga Energy’s logistics and sales teams repeatedly ventured into the mountainous area during the preliminary stage, conducting in-depth survey and scientifically designing the transportation plan for modules. Ultimately, they successfully delivered all modules to the site on time and safely, providing a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the Project.
Service empowerment: Solargiga Energy teams’ commitment — During construction of the Project, Solargiga Energy deployed professional sales and technical teams on site, providing end-to-end technical consultation and guidance from preparation to grid connection of the Project. Whether for module installation, commissioning, or ongoing O&M support, the teams ensured optimal performance of every module, providing a solid guarantee for long-term operation of the Project. With its considerate services provided throughout the process, Solargiga Energy has won high recognition from its client.
The successful grid connection of the Project is another achievement of Solargiga Energy’s support for construction of PV projects in mountainous areas. In the future, Solargiga Energy will continue to uphold the concept of green development, provide more competitive products and services for global clients, and jointly paint a picture of green energy in beautiful China.
